I visited the site Monday night, and it is just so exciting to me to see a real building there. The outside wall on the East side appears to be at or near full height, and some of the exterior later of block is up. There are lots of openings for windows. North wall is coming along too.
It looks to my untrained eye that preparations are well underway to pour cement over the storm shelter spaces. Not sure exactly what the timing is for that step, but the progress is good.
Today, some board members, building project managers, and school administration was to meet at the site to review the renovation on the existing building. While the largest part of the work is done there, there are still numerous tasks before we can say that building is done. Some of those tasks are simply on hold so that the new construction work next door cannot cause any problems with the renovation work. For example, muddy shoes on new carpet would be disappointing to us all.
There may be volunteer opportunities with some of those tasks, so be aware, and enjoy the chance to be part of preparing this site for OCA in the future.
Thanks for praying, thanks for reading.
